Taking corona as a curse won’t be a wrong judgment, but have we considered the fact that it has been a detoxification period for mother nature?

The global pandemic has caused life-threatening havoc and devastating economic slump, and there is already so much going out there. Let’s take the spotlight on the things that have taken a great shape during the time.

  1. Ozone layer
Corona and earth

Spread across 1 million sq. Kilometers, the largest hole in the Ozone layer has nearly vanished. Surprisingly, the augmentation of the hole is nowhere related to the fallen levels of air pollution during the lockdown.

2. Air pollution

As per the reports published by WHO, about 4.2 million deaths a year are recorded because of disease caused by extreme ambient pollution. A condition that has increased the graph of people suffering from stroke, heart disease, and respiratory illnesses. Only 9% of the world population lives in places with normal air conditions.

However, the lockdown due to corona has taken down the CO2 emission. 2020 has recorded the largest ever annual drop in CO2 emission. Thereby, the air pollution index has improved to a great degree. Having said that, there is no clear evidence that this change has affected the climate.

3. Turtles, dolphins & flamingos

Since visits have been restricted to beaches (still restricted at some places), water bodies, surely, would have been enjoying the peace. Besides, closing down the factories due to corona lockdown has also proven to be a positive sign of reduced water pollution.

Observing a fortunate result, livings like sea turtles, dolphins, and flamingo have been sighted this year.

The largest living sea turtles have reached up to 2,000 pounds, and have returned on Juno Beach in Florida. Dolphins have returned to Italy, India (Kolkata), and to other countries as well. Likewise, the count of flamingo witnessed was higher than in the past few years. #AllLivesMatter

4. Himalayas

The major absence of vehicles and canceled flights have contributed significantly to improving air quality. Less pollution means clear visibility. Some north-Indian residents have claimed to see the Himalaya Mountains. This is the first time in the last 30 years that the Himalayas are visible from a distance of about 125 miles away.

5. Wild animals outside

Now that humans are restricted to go out because of corona pandemic, wild animals have been witnessed roaming freely in streets across cities in different parts of the world. Clearly, it is not safe for humans! But if we take a look at the bigger picture, the earth is the place for all, not only for humans.

With all these positive outcomes of the corona, human lives have been on stake. So, let’s stay home, stay safe, and save lives.

How wonderful would it be to dedicate a few days to earth like this, but without corona or any such reason?
